GSUS Live and the National Framework for Religious Education.

GSUS Live is a brilliant resource to use as a tool for Religious Education, Citizenship and PSHE
lessons.  It explores the themes of Forgiveness, Fear and Rejection in a Christian context.

The Devon Agreed Syllabus for RE ‘Every Child Matters in RE ( www.deseducation.org ) which is
based on the National Framework for RE ( www.curriculum.qca.org.uk ) constantly refers
to these themes as highlighted below.

Forgiveness is central to the Christian faith and is also foundational in all human relationships at every level. GSUS Live assists therefore in ‘learning about’ as well as ‘learning from’ Christianity.

Fear and rejection are also key themes that affect our relationships at every level. Christian teaching on the antidote to fear which is love and rejection which is acceptance is clear and demonstrated by Jesus.

GSUS Live is an ideal resource whilst delivering the suggested units of work for Key Stage Three from the Devon Agreed Syllabus, for example Unit 1 Beliefs and Concepts, Unit 3 Rights and Responsibilities, Unit 4 Authority, Unit 5 Peace, Justice and Equality and Unit 7 Ethics and relationships.

At my own C of E Aided school GSUS Live excellently enriches many units of work at Key Stage 3 including: ‘Jesus’ and a lesson called ‘What Christians believe about why Jesus had to die.’ ‘The Church’ and a lesson series called ‘Key Christian Beliefs.’ ‘Just10’ and a lesson called ‘Living free.’

GSUS Live is also being used at Key Stage Four in teaching GCSE topics such as AQA RS Syllabus B ‘Key Beliefs’ and ‘Truth and Spirituality.’ ‘Crime and punishment.’

I therefore have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending GSUS Live to secondary schools everywhere.
